How we saved $24 on our electric bill!

Having our own little apartment has been loads of fun! But one of the cons to independent living are the bills! Our first full month in our little one bedroom apartment brought us an $81 dollar electric bill! Yikes! But with a few little tricks we managed to bring it down to $57 for March! Don't you love it when making a change brings about great results?? Here's what we did:

1. Turn out the lights!
     We started using lights only in the rooms we were in...it was annoying at first but we got used to it! Night light? That had to go too!

2. Dishwasher Don'ts
    Don't turn it on until its full! We only ran full (sometimes overflowing) loads of dishes in the dishwasher...saving water too!

3. Keep it cool!
    Start washing your laundry on the cold cold setting, (it takes energy to heat up the water!) I use Melaleuca's laundry detergent and spot remover so getting stains out without hot or even warm water is never a problem!
