Drugstore Dry Shampoo Review!

Dry shampoo is my best friend! Whether I need to freshen up when I'm running late and don't have time to shower, or just want to keep my hair healthy and happy...dry shampoo is just one of the few products that I cannot live without. Over the past few months I have been trying new brands and made a few new discoveries! I made a video sharing my thoughts on these, but below I will rate each individual brand in five different categories and give them a score out of 10 points.

Garnier Fructis Volume Extend Dry Shampoo

Performance: A satisfying amount of volume with this one, especially when used before bed and then once again in the morning. Minimal amount of white residue with this one, which does rub out quite easily. It also smells clean and leaves your hair with that freshly washed, non-greasy, clean feeling.

Ingredients: The good, grape seed and orange peel oils. The bad, Aluminum Starch amongst other chemicals.
Packaging: Nothing impressive, but easy to find in your products cupboard.
Price: $4.99 for 3.4 oz
Overall: Good, considering the price it is a great product.
Score: 7/10

Tony & Guy Matte Texturizing Spray Dry Shampoo

Performance: Great Volume! Smells more soapy-clean but gets the job done leaving a matte finish and added texture! By far the most multi-purpose performing dry shampoo. Leaves hair feeling clean and refreshed, and extra freshly clean looking because of the matte finish. Great for adding texture in the lengths of hair too. Does leave behind some white residue which is easily worked into the hair and quickly absorbs oils.
Ingredients: The good, not much. The bad, this one is mainly chemicals, including aluminum starch.
Packaging: Very cute, slightly retro labeling. Probably due to the companies 1963 establishment date.
Price: $14.99 for 5.2 oz. Definitely the most expensive but worth it as it is more like a 2-n-1 product.
Overall: This one would be my fave, if not for the price tag and ingredient list, definitely a winner in the performance area though!
Score: 8/10

Suave Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo

Performance: Not a great smell, although it is a clean one. Leaves hair feeling and looking clean, satisfactory volume. Average White residue.
Ingredients: The good, keratin. The bad, aluminum starch and other chemicals... fewer ingredients than most others however.
Packaging: Nothing special, but decent.
Price: $4.74 for 5 oz. (I purchased mine with a coupon and got it for about $3.99)
Overall: Definitely the most budget friendly option. For how cheap it is the performance is great!
Score: 6/10

Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo

Performance: Minimal volume (some, just not as much as others) but leaves your hair feeling fresh, clean and smelling fantastic! This one leaves the least white residue. Most refreshing formula.
Ingredients: The good, Peppermint and Mint oils, Tapioca Starch instead of Aluminum (huge plus!), no parabens or colorants. The bad, has a few chemicals but definitely free of the most harmful ones!
Packaging: Love the look of the packaging, very pretty, however as I mentioned in my video 3 out 0f about 5 bottles of this I used stopped spraying about half way through the product. I have noticed on my most recent one that as long as you shake each time before use (as the spray can instructs) that is less likely to happen. It maybe due to the fact that it has less chemicals pressurizing the can (I don't know the science behind it) however, the fact that this happens 50% of the time is a problem to me. Hopefully Herbal Essence will fix this flaw soon!
Price: $4.99 (online at target.com) for 4.9 oz.
Overall: My favorite choice because of the ingredients mainly, but the performance and price are definitely up to par.
Score: 9/10

Tresemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo

Performance: Absorbs oil quickly with minimal white residue. Give great volume and leaves hair feeling and smelling squeaky clean!
Ingredients: The good, citrus peel extracts. The bad, Aluminum starch and other chemicals.
Packaging: Nothing too impressive.
Price: $4.99 for 4.3 oz
Overall: Was my favorite for a long time, good all around, you can't go wrong with this one.
Score: 8/10

Batiste Dry Shampoo for Dark Hair (not pictured)

Performance: Great volume, oil absorption and smells pretty good. Leaves hair with a clean feeling and no white residue whatsoever, but since this is a brown tinted spray you do have to be careful where you aim this product. My first use was a bit messy but after that I got the hang of it and really enjoyed it. Great Option.
Ingredients: The good, rice starch instead of Aluminum starch. The bad, not the worst but nothing to good either.
Packaging: Very Cute and great selection...also available in travel size!
Price: $8.99 for 6.73 oz. Not the best, but their is more product than others, and can be bought with a coupon if purchased at Ulta.
Overall: Tied for favorite with the Herbal Essence. Great Performance with less harmful chemicals.
Score: 9/10
